Happy Birthday Rascal

This weekend we celebrated Rascal's 2nd birthday - a party filled with lots of noise, laughter and fun. Happy Birthday little man!

Christmas making

This week has seen a flurry of activity making some last minute Christmas gifts.
There was some sparkly Christmas play dough,
Gingerbread stars for Junior's Kindy teachers,
Rocky road for friends and relatives and,
Some little travel bags for the boys friends who came to Rascal's birthday party. Several of our friends are off on holidays this week so we thought a little bag of holiday activities would be useful. We included some travel bingo cards, a holiday journal and pencil, some self-inking stamps and a few stickers. Hope they like them.

Super Birthday Boy

With Rascals birthday rapidly approaching I finally got around to making that superman cape I have been planning to forever!
Once I actually started it took no time at all (one nap time to be precise) and I'm quite pleased with it. I used this tutorial which I found via Heldin im Chaos and it was super easy.
I was going to make it reversible with Batman on one side and Superman on the other but I have decided to save Batman for Junior instead or they will be forever fighting over it.
So nice to actually get one project finished - now to tackle the rest of the pile. Wish me luck.

Hands and Feet Reindeer

We did a very quick and simple Christmas craft activity this week which makes lovely little Christmas decorations.
Simply trace your childs hand's and feet onto some cardstock and cut them out.
Add some eyes and a red nose
and you have a cute little reindeer! What simple Christmas crafts have you been doing this week? “Come over and play at the Childhood 101 We Play link up”

(Late) Wordless Wednesday - Concentration

Blocks and Rocks

Sometimes the simple things in life are the best.
Lately Rascal has been playing a lot with some simple wooden blocks and pebbles. Both of these are old favourites but in the last week or so he seems to want to mix them together a lot. It is amazing how long this can keep him entertained when a playroom full of plastic has little appeal. Glitter glitter everywhere

Yesterday Junior and I got busy with glitter and glue to make some Christmas cards for the Kids Craft Weekly annual Christmas card swap. We have been checking our e-mail daily awaiting our list of 10 people to send the cards to and yesterday it arrived. So I thought we better get cracking on the card making straight away so we can get them in the post in time.
We have to make 10 cards fairly quickly so we opted for a simple glitter stars effect using some cookie cutters to apply glue to our cards and then Junior got shake, shake, shaking with the glitter. He loves glitter but I'm not usually very keen because it does get everywhere - I even had to wash it out of Puggle's hair last night!
Anyway the cards are now dry and today we will add a little bit of glitter glue and sign them all so they are ready to go to the post office tomorrow.
We have to send cards to the US, Malaysia, Germany and another family in Australia so we will be getting out the atlas to see where they are all going.

Thank You

Recently I received a lovely present in the post - a gift voucher for kikki-k thanks to Sarah at Ah the Possibilities.
This morning I had a chance to visit our local store where I picked up a lovely 2011 diary and pen, and a set of wooden stamps. Thank you so much Sarah. I think I will have to make another visit (minus children) again soon because it is oh so nice!

3 Months

I can't believe Puggle is 3 months old already. He is a bright little spark who loves tummy time, playing with the baby gym, cooing and gooing, talking to anyone who will pay him some attention, reading books, taking a bath and feeding (every couple of hours). He is not so keen on sleeping very long in the day-time or getting out of the bath but hopefully that will get better soon. He really is part of the family and I can't imagine life without him now.

Advent Calendar 2010

I have been feeling particularly un-Christmassy this year but Junior is constantly reminding me that Christmas will soon be here so I have finally got around to making a few things.
Last week Junior and I started our Advent Calendar - this year I decided to use up a pile of toilet rolls which have been sitting in the useful box for a while.
I love this calendar I saw at maya*made last year, so we made a similar one and it was super easy. (She has made an even cuter calendar this year but it is a little more complicated for little hands). Junior helped me staple the bottom of the rolls to make a little pocket. Then we painted them with a roller and some white acrylic paint. To finish them off we stuck on a little red star and numbered then with a red pen. I printed out our list of activities adding one to each pocket as well as a little treat for Junior and Rascal.
Then we pegged them to a red ribbon using miniature clothes pegs. Done! Now I just have to get started on my Christmas present list - Sigh!

We play with Chalk

This afternoon I thought the boys needed to let of some steam so I started to set up an obstacle course outside. I grabbed some sidewalk chalk to make some footprints on the pavers for them to follow and they both joined in. They were far more interested in colouring in the bricks than following the footsteps. Quick easy entertainment - just how I like it!What quick and easy play activities have you been enjoying this week? “Come over and play at the Childhood 101 We Play link up”

On-the-go Nappy Bags

Earlier this week the boys and I went to Spotlight looking for some curtain fabric (yes I know I'm insane taking three young boys shopping but as a mum I sometimes have to do these things). Anyway, with two of my nieces expecting babies next week, I couldn't resist buying a little of this cute fabric to make some "On-the-go Nappy Bags".
I saw these at Lovely Designs recently so when I saw the fabric I knew what I would make with it. I had planned to start making my Christmas bags this week but they have been put on hold for a week or two.
I used Sharilyn's tutorial but made the bags slightly bigger and filled them with a washable changenmat, wipes, nappies and a little one piece suit.
Junior helped me with threading the ribbon for the bag ties so of course he wants a little bag of his own too - might be good for filling with pencils, note books and stickers to keep him entertained when we are out and about.
